The Singers are inviting all who are interested in singing to join them at a Vocal Workshop on Saturday 9 February 2019 from 9.30am to 4.30pm where we will be looking at the Gloria from Puccini’s Messa di Gloria. The Workshop will be held at Lovat Hall, Silver Street, Newport Pagnell, MK16 0EJ.

The Gloria (Second Movement) comprises of the following subsections, which will be studied during the day: Gloria in excelsis Deo; Et in terra pax; Laudamus te, benedicimus te; Gratias agimus tibi; Gloria in excelsis Deo; Domine Deus; Qui tollis peccata mundi; Quonium tu solus sanctus; Cum Sancto Spirito. Singers are asked to make themselves familiar with these sections before the event by listening to recordings or performances on YouTube.

Drinks will be provided throughout the day but please do bring your own lunch. There are several cafés nearby in the town’s High Street.

We are fortunate to welcome Paul Leddington Wright to lead our exciting workshop and to direct our performance of the Gloria at the end of the afternoon.

With Easter in Mind

Music speaks to the heart and soul, no matter what faith or language we call our own.

Join Newport Pagnell Singers, Quartet Camerata and guest ensemble for a seasonal concert in the beautiful church of St Peter and St Paul.

‘With Easter in Mind’ we offer you an evening of moving, comforting, joyful and uplifting choral music written by composers inspired by their Christian faith.

Our programme includes some of the most popular choral pieces ever written, performed thousands of times during the years, though not usually in the same concert!

We open with Mascagni’s well known ‘Easter Hymn’ from ‘Cavalleria Rusticana’, sung by full choir, with soloist and grand organ accompaniment. Vivaldi’s ‘Gloria’ follows, accompanied by our small orchestral ensemble - a work of emotional shades, but predominantly sunny and joyful.

After the interval, Singers, Soloists, Orchestra and Organ combine to perform key pieces of the Easter music from Handel’s ‘Messiah’. After a wide range of emotional expression, we end on a gloriously optimistic note with the triumphant ‘Hallelujah’ Chorus.

All Tickets: £10

Tickets available from Cambourne Travel in Newport Pagnell; Wilsons in Olney, or by messaging me on Facebook or via this website.
