The Last Night of the Proms is a British institution and Newport Pagnell Singer’s version is always a success. We present a programme, which includes the favourites: Land of Hope and Glory, Rule Britannia, Sailor’s Hornpipe and Jerusalem.

This is a Proms concert for all the family, tradition at its best and definitely not to be missed. Along with all the proms essentials the concert also includes some well-known operatic choruses, Habenera and March of the Toreadors from Bizet’s Carmen; Puccini’s Humming Chorus from Madama Butterfly, Chorus of the Hebrew Slaves from Verdi’s Nabucco. Plus Saint-Saëns’ The Carnival of the Animals performed by our own Ed Tomlinson with Kevin Vockerodt.

A real treat for everyone awaits!

Another wonderful workshop with Paul Leddington Wright
Members of Newport Pagnell Singers, joined by friends from other local choirs, had a wonderful day of music last Saturday, learning the Gloria from Puccini’s Messa di Gloria, ably guided by Paul Leddington Wright. We performed the work at the end of the workshop, but if you missed the chance to hear it then, or would like to join us in singing it, we are performing it again as part of our "Last Night of the Proms" Concert on Saturday 29th June 2019 at the Chrysalis Theatre, Willen, Milton Keynes.

Carols & Brass
The Singers and Band are working hard learning some new Christmas Songs to present to you at their annual Christmas Concert on 8 December at the Parish Church in Newport Pagnell. We look forward to seeing you there.

Puccini Workshop
The Singers are inviting all who are interested in singing to join them at a Vocal Workshop on Saturday 9 February 2019 from 9.30am to 4.30pm where we will be looking at the Gloria from Puccini’s Messa di Gloria. The Workshop will be held at Lovat Hall, Silver Street, Newport Pagnell, MK16 0EJ.

The Gloria (Second Movement) comprises of the following subsections, which will be studied during the day: Gloria in excelsis Deo; Et in terra pax; Laudamus te, benedicimus te; Gratias agimus tibi; Gloria in excelsis Deo; Domine Deus; Qui tollis peccata mundi; Quonium tu solus sanctus; Cum Sancto Spirito. Singers are asked to make themselves familiar with these sections before the event by listening to recordings or performances on YouTube.

Drinks will be provided throughout the day but please do bring your own lunch. There are several cafés nearby in the town’s High Street.

We are fortunate to welcome Paul Leddington Wright to lead our exciting workshop and to direct our performance of the Gloria at the end of the afternoon.

If you would like to join us for the day please see the flyer below for details. Places are limited, so early booking is advisable.
